Many called him the best Bengali genius of the late twentieth century. They uttered this word keeping in mind the words of Rabindranath. He is Acharya Satyendranath Bose. Who recorded one hundred and ten out of one hundred in mathematics. Which is still a matter of legend. He was born on January 1, 1894. Father's name is Surendranath Basu. He held a responsible position in the East Indian Railway. Their original home was at Baro Jagulia village in Nadia district, forty-eight kilometers from Kolkata. Mother's name is Amdini Devi.Satyendranath has one brother and six sisters. He is the greatest of all. Satyendranath started studying in a normal school near his home at the age of eight. At one time Rabindranath was also a student of that school. Satyendranath loved to play with instruments since childhood. Once he took off his father's hobby watch. When the father came back from the office, he was surprised to see his son's trunk! He asked, 'What have you done?'
Satyendranath did not panic at all and said to his father, 'Look, I have opened the clock to see who is ticking.'
Dad realized that Satyendranath would one day become a great scientist with this inquisitive mind.
The mother asked for a textbook from a boy in the house next door. Satyendranath, the boy of that day, memorized the average from the beginning to the end. Mother put her hand on her cheek in surprise. Not only that, Satyendranath also remembered the answer to any question written on any page. His memory was so incredible! Until his death, he has been working with this extraordinary talent and memory.
Satyen did not know that it was important to write down telephone numbers. In fact, when he heard a number, it would immediately stick in his head. At one point, science professors at Presidency College thought the young student would test Satyen's memory. So Professor Ashok Shastri Mahasaya of Sanskrit College recited a sonnet made by himself to Satyendranath. After speaking for a while, Shastri Mahasaya said to Satyen Bose - 'Sir, can you memorize the sonnet now?'
Laughing, Satyenbabu listened to the whole sonnet. We can tell many such incidents from his life. 1908 Satyendranath will take the entrance test at the age of fourteen. He contracted chicken pox two days before the test. So he had to stay at home for a year without examination. The following year he won first place in the examination. This could not be the first test in life.
1909 AD. Satyen Bose was admitted to the renowned Presidency College. There he got Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose and Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy as professors.Acharya Prafulla Chandra had already heard of Satyen's talent. He did not allow Satyen to sit on the bench but arranged for him to sit on the tool next to him. According to him, Satyen did not need to learn anew. Satyen will embarrass him by asking unnecessary questions while sitting with other students. So a separate seating arrangement was made for Satyen. In 1911, he won the first place in the ISC examination from Presidency College. Physiology was his fourth subject in this experiment. He got only one hundred out of one hundred marks.
This time he came to B.Sc class. Admitted in mixed mathematics. He was first in the B.Sc Honors examination. It may be mentioned here that Vigyanatapas Meghnad was his close competitor. He finished second in every university exam.
1915 The MSC mixed mathematics test had the same result. He scored 736 out of 800, setting a record that no one has been able to break. This time we will look at another Satyen Bose. Who had a moving laboratory in his head. The pencil is his screwdriver. He sincerely believed that worldly progress of Indians would not be possible without the spread of applied science in subjugated India. From then on, he started experimenting with various subjects by hand. He learned the German language in order to learn directly about the latest research ideas in science. In 1918, his first research paper was published in Philosophical Magazine under the title 'Saha-Bose Status Equation'. His collaborator was Meghnad Saha.
In 1920 he joined Dhaka University as a reader. While studying there, he came across an error in the theory of the famous German physicist Max Planck. He also wrote a four-page article on the subject. But Satyendranath was disturbed when he came back unsubstantiated from all the local and foreign sciences. Then he made a bold decision. He sent the article to Einstein, the father of relativism. The greatest scientist of the century was amazed to learn the mathematical ability of an Indian professor. The beginning is Satyendranath's fearless step in the field of cosmology.Along with this we have seen Satyendranath in many ways. Sometimes he has become a social activist, sometimes a science essayist. His lifelong dream was to bring science to the masses through the Bengali language. So he created the 'Bengal Science Council'. From here the magazine 'Gyan O Vijnan' was regularly published. Even today, the organization continues to work tirelessly in the field of science.
He passed away at an advanced age - February 4, 1974. Satyendranath Bose does not survive in the earthly body, but the 'boson' made by him remains. Even today, when we talk about the nature of a particle, we must remember its name. In this way he has become forever memorable to us.
